ON AUGUST 4TH, BEIRUT SUFFERED A MASSIVE EXPLOSION RESULTING IN DEVASTATING DESTRUCTION TO THE CITY AND ITS PORT. THE ROSARY SISTERS HOSPITAL WAS SEVERELY AFFECTED DUE TO ITS IMMEDIATE PROXIMITY TO THE BEIRUT PORT.

The hospital suffered extensive structural and equipment damage and is no longer operational in all its medical and administrative units. Most importantly, we lost a fellow nurse aid while several patients and members of the staff and patients were injured.
We are reaching out to the local and international communities to help us raise funds for the Hospital reconstruction in order to get the hospital reopened and serving the local community as soon as possible in these trying times.
The Rosary Sisters Hospital is a 200-bed hospital in the Gemmayze neighborhood of Beirut with up to date investigative equipment and operating rooms. We employ 160 persons as well as 140 physicians and run on an estimated budget of USD12 million annually. Before this unfortunate turn of events, the hospital was completely renovated and modernized, and housed the National Breast Care Center, the Vision and Ophthalmology Institute, and a Women’s Care Center within the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department.
The Rosary Sisters Hospital operates under the guidance of the Holy Chair in Rome, and its funding has always been dependent on donors and charitable organizations. It is itself a nonprofit organization registered as an NGO in Lebanon. It is ranked as a class “A” hospital by the National Accreditation Committee.
